Ernest A. Tarr (1926 – 2012)
“Models have always fascinated me since I first visited the Peabody Museum in Salem as a young boy.” Thereafter, Mr. Tarr has been surrounded by boats and models. He worked for over thirty years at a historic boat yard on the north shore of Boston, constructing and repairing all types of wooden vessels and small craft. In particular, he loved building such open boats as the Beachcomber, Chaisson & Amesbury skiffs, Swampscott dories, and the local one-design Fish boats. The yard’s office was filled with half-models of vessels built there and represented a true range of workboats to beautiful yachts.
