Wilford H. Hooper (1927 – 2015)
Mr. Hooper’s fifty plus years of modeling began as a teen and continued after graduation from college when he began working for the first of several firms that specialized in engineering and architectural models. The models he produced included a full-scale mock-up of a reactor, the sub Nautilus, full-scale missiles, and a 10’ model of a Canadian warship with working radar antennas, etc. In his retirement, Mr. Hooper concentrated his interest to America’s Cup boats and custom yachts. One of the features of his work is his outstanding airbursh painting ability. His work can be found at Mystic Seaport Museum, the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, American Yacht Club and major private and corporate collections throughout the United States.
