The largest cruiser in the Royal Navy when commissioned in 1939, BELFAST served in WWII and the Korean War before being paid off in 1963. The historic cruiser is preserved for public view on the Thames River, opposite the Tower of London. A waterline diorama depicts the Town Class cruiser, ca 1938, steaming at nearly full speed in a heavy Arctic sea. The model is authentically painted per known camouflage and research. Hull is constructed of wooden waterline lifts, with superstructure built-up of brass and wood. All deck gear, boats, aircraft and fittings are accurate to her period configuration and fabricated of brass, copper, Britannia, wire and wood. Glazed cover trimmed in brass, and two brass engraved name plaques.
