Leith smack c 1825, a heavy, burdensome vessel with a short, deep hull with small deadrise, rounded bilge, a full entrance and a hollow run; all of which gave good cargo capacity and enabled the vessel to sit upright in harbors that dried out at low water. Hedderwick's plans give dimensions as 73' 2" (keel and forerake) by 23' 6" by 12' 6" and 173 tons.
