This fine realistic waterline scene depicts HMS VIRAGO , a Class B, British four funnel, 30 knot torpedo boat dest roy er, built by Laird Bros., at Birkenhead, November 1895 . Measured 210.5' length x 21.5' beam, 355 tons, 6300ihp , 1 - 12 pdr., 5 - 6 pdr., and 2 - TT . The vessel is shown under full speed passing a harbor channel bell buoy. The model is constructed of a solid wood hull and superstructure constructed of brass and wood. It shows all typical deck gear, armament and fittings per period. Realistically painted and includes various hand painted work action figures. Mounted in a custom fitted mahogany display with inner raised plinth, glazed cover trimmed in brass, and two brass engraved name plaques.
