This fine replica exhibits all the state-of-the-art gasoline powered engine components of this streamlined 39’ hull designed speedboat of 1907.  Alamo was built by Jones and LaBorde in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. It was built in secret for Dr. F.J. Fielding of San Antonio, Texas who summered in Winneconne, Wisconsin. The two passenger speedboat was powered by two Termaat & Monahan four cylinder engines with 130 horse power, and could reach average speeds of 25 MPH.  Alamo won the annual scratch motorboat race on August 19th, 1907 sponsored by the Oshkosh Yacht Club, making the 28 mile course in one hour, 25 minutes, six seconds. At the finish line she was nearly 3 miles ahead of her famous competitor Globe Con owned by Richard Schell of Oshkosh. The beautifully built bright work wooden hull of this model fully depicts the sleek design, and with the interior structural and mechanical components fully exposed (spark plugs, distributors, fuel & lubrication lines, water pumps), one can see the tremendous metal-smith workmanship required for this unusual model. The model is mounted via solid brass rods on a recessed mirror, all framed in solid black walnut base, with a glazed cover trimmed in brass, and includes two engraved name plaques.
