She was designed by Starling Burgess and Olin Stephens, and built by Bath Iron Works, making her the first "J" defender not to have been built by Herreshoff; Waterline lift hull construction, natural mahogany bottom, white topsides, navy cove stripe. Mounted on a cherry backboard.
